Everbuild All Purpose wallpaper paste is often used by Antique furniture restorers to help remove old scotch glue from joints before re-gluing. The wallpaper paste flakes are soaked in water, (as per the normal instructions) and then applied to the old hardened scotch glue that remains around the separated joints. The hygroscopic affect of the paste then softens the old glue which then can either be rinsed away or scraped off. This method saves potential damage to the joint that often happens if chiselled or dry scraped.
